Calm

As you probably have read in my about me page I found this app when I was talking to a friend of mine, Hailey Howard, about ways we relieve stress. I told her that one of the main ways I get rid of my stress is going on a drive and listening to music (Which I still do from time to time). However, that can get a little expensive because gas is not cheap. So, as a result she told me of an app that was helping her become more mindful, and she is now able to slow down her thoughts in times of overwhelming stress and tackle one thought at a time.

When I downloaded this app, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. She had mentioned that I should try it but never went into great detail. Once I started on it, I was instantly inspired. This app gives you a 7 day free trial, and takes you through a process of calming and meditation videos. Each morning I wake up, wash my face, make a cup of coffee, listen to some music (usually the Eagles) and then get started on my meditation.

The first video was truly helpful. It went through this breathing exercise, where the main focus was strictly on inhaling and exhaling. I had to clear all my thoughts and completely focus on my breathing and nothing more. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. I would start to focus on my breathing and then a thought would pop into my mind and I realized it, and would start to focus on my breathing again (This was a never ending cycle, throughout the entire video). However, the woman who was talking to me through the meditation process says things like, "You are probably wondering why your mind keeps thinking about random thoughts, don't worry this is normal when starting out." She reassured me that meditation takes hard work and dedication but at the end it'll be all worth it.
